One of CN's military units solo on train 271 at Newtonville, a very fortunate meet between the train and a sucker hole in the clouds.

This guy was in my train today and those are a new set of reporting marks for me, otherwise just a random tank car photo that I took.

CSX D795-27 leaving Gettysburg 3/27/21.  2 widebodies plenty of power for a mostly, if not entirely empty train

I wasn't able to snap a picture of my own, due to being on the commute home from work, but I spotted Canadian Pacific AC44CW No. 9617 (with beaver!) as a trailing unit recently on an eastbound CSX mixed manifest through Newark, Delaware on the Philly Subdivision.

It's not Thursday, but while doing some cleanup I came across two photos from fall 1997.
The first is the Coast Starlight next to the American Orient Express at Portland Oregon.

The second (a few days later, but still not sure of the date) is the tail end of the soon-to-be eastbound Canadian in Vancouver BC.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Not sure, but the South Shore Freight shares the line with the electrified commuters, so my guess is that it's some sort of guard against the overhead power line, or perhaps can be used as a platform if there's a work detail.  Not being a midwest local, I'm sure someone out there has a more informed guess than I can provided.
