Interesting they are now made in Poland.

Why, did you think that Poland was chopped liver!?  (with an apology to @nickelplate759:trollface: ;)

I'm not upset - just joking.

No, that was your assumption.  :)  I just haven't seen any tools made in Poland.  It's all that Made In China junk.   :D

Wiha makes good stuff.

EDIT: Damn I didn't see the fine print until I posted.   8)

Wiha emphasizes German engineering, but made in America on some tools:  https://www.wihatools.com/  I just find it curious that Germans are not allowed to make their engineered products.  Looks like Germany is losing jobs just like those of us in the USA.  It is the greedy CEOs and their accountants that shed jobs in the race to the bottom.  China makes some nice things that cannot entirely be made elsewhere, such as many of our N scale products.  Poland has a history of fine products, as does the USA.  Globalization is mostly related to CEOs searching for cheaper labor.  When a corporate accountant wants to cheapen something further, quality control goes out the window regardless of geography.

Exactly!
Because the 'established' shonky tax systems and 'inducements' to produce better EVER INCREASING profits for shareholders (and thereby OWN CELERY!  :scared: ) they dont give a shyte for locals and economies, or the environment.
We're at the bottom of the world, half a percent of anything global, and pay twice as much or more for products- our manufacturing has been destroyed.

Ok, so I bought a bunch of coloured polo shirts made in china in 90's for $9 apiece and they still wear ok. Stunning!
And in 2013 before being dumped from an ivory tower, I bought some locally hand made (material contracted overseas) and paid $99 for these beautiful specimens of casual/ smart print shirts.

You do what you can for 'private' local enterprise... not the corporate goonies...

Some good machine tool items were made in Poland.  Anything I've ever seen from Poland was pretty much top shelf but there wasn't a lot of it.
