@bdennis ... thanks so much for the video, photos, and instructions ... very much appreciated!

wow, i got to do this! looking really good and the sound is certainly worth the work involved.
i have ab ABBA consist in PRR and will probably do ESU installs on the A units and semi-permanent
linking together with true scale couplers between them , an N Scale on the front and whatever
proves to be the best fit on the rear of the second A.

great job! again thanks for sharing...

sincerely,
Gary

Gary, No problem. I like the sound from Alco's and have a C628, a PA1, a S2 and a number of C-420's. Then have a few GP38-2's. But the sound from the Sharks is something different again and is sounds great.
I used this sound file in the Shark. - http://projects.esu.eu/projectoverviews/search?cat=18&q=rf-16
Play the demo sound file on the web site. This is what the Loksound decoder sounds like or very close to it..
It is not 100% correct, but, hey, it is close and sounds great and there are no Sharks running in 1:1 scale to compare against.

@bdennis  Did you have to do anything to your Sharks to lessen the grinder sounds their gear train tends to make?

John, No I have not changed them other than a light oil on the drive train. They are a little noisy and I had the sound a bit low and I could hear the noise.. So I just increased the volume on the decoder. Problem solved..!

Nice job on the Sharks! I have an NYC A-B-B-A set that I'd like to give the LokSound treatment to. My plan is to use LokPilot in the A units and make a dual prime mover file for the LokSounds in the B units. ESU has a 608A sound file for LokSound v4 that's a bit more robust-sounding than the 606SC - I'm hoping they upgrade it to v5 soon.

I also have done a LokSound conversion to a plastic-frame PA. My method is similar to John's (I didn't see his till today) in that I had to shave down the rear weight to accommodate the decoder. Instead of shaving the front weight for the speaker I removed the fuel tank/weight casting under the motor and replaced it with a ESU 15x11mm speaker kit with full baffle. I added some styrene half-cylinders and silver paint to the baffle to give it a little bit of detail back, but it's pretty well-hidden by the skirting.
