I think before we go back down the "COVID-19 isn't a big deal" road we should be mindful that at least one of our most prolific members here lost his father to COVID-19 after an agonizing two weeks in isolation where he and his family were unable to say goodbye to him in person.  Mindfulness is in short supply these days.

Trainshows and distancing is simply a pipe dream. And the reason for low numbers is following proper precautions.

Creating the perfect storm of transmission is irresponsible and minimizing the potential impact is similarly irresponsible.

It's not panic.

It's not weakness.

It's doing what must be done for the well-being of those around us and focusing on what's actually important, even if that requires personal sacrifices.

Everyone might not understand the risks, but it's the responsibility of those of us to do to look out for those who don't, because we live in a society.

I've heard many "stories", but I also know of 2 first hand experiences where people were record and it wasn't true.

One friend had someone in the family diagnosed with terminal cancer. 2 months later she died and they tested her afterwards. She tested positive for Corona so she was recorded as a Corona death.

Another friend went to the hospital to get tested and filled out all the paperwork. After 20 min asked how long it would be. They said 2 hours so they left because they couldn't wait. 3 days after this they got a letter that they tested positive. They never got tested.

I think the problem is that hospitals are givin money if it's Corona related.

Think it was the Chicago mayor who said if they aren't sure you're positive, you're automatically positive.

I just helped load my t-trak modules for this show.  I will not be there for several reasons.  But a few members of my club will be there with a much smaller display than usual.  We have set up at this show for over a decade.  There is usually over 1200 people attending, and it is two full days.  This year the temps are supposed to be just over 90, high humidity, and no air conditioning.  The buildings are just regular county fairground polebarns, with all of the rollup doors open.  It is usually hotter inside the buildings than outside.  The normal smells of the attendees are enhanced and refined with the high heat and humidity.

It is usually a very good show, with plenty of n scale bargains.  But one of my main worries is this show will draw people from many hours away.  It doesn't really matter what the covid rates are for Allen county, or any neighboring county.
The artical mentions many people driving for 3 or 4 hours to get there.  They could bring it with them from out of the area.  And the extra heat could mask some of the covid symptoms, assuming that symptomatic people would stay home anyway.
