Making Lighted Numberboards

Has anyone made lighted numberboards for a locomotive that did not come with them? I have a few locomotives that apparently never came with them, i.e. Kato SD80MAC, Athearn SD70M, etc.

I recently did this for my Rapido FL9 by using spare Kato F unit numberboards, they also sell the numberboard blanks for SD70MAC, AC4400CW, that you could probably repurpose for your other locomotives.

The numberboards come on a sprue runner made of the same translucent plastic material that could be cut down for custom sizes that aren't available, (like the SD80MAC rear small numberboards)

I have a few resin models that I carved out the number boards and lit. Sorry no pics. Basically I paint the inside of the shell black and then silver after carving it out. Food with Krystal Klear. Once dry do it again and repeat until it’s nice and flat. If you have to shave it with a knife if it’s standing proud. Paint the front white. Carefully hand paint the edge black. Then I print black decals with clear numbers on my printer and apply over top.
