Scotland: The Ballachulish Branch

I was reading through old railway modelling magazines and came across details of the Ballachulish Branch Line in Scotland in an old "Hornby Magazine" from 2012. I thought it would be good to follow the line and have sought to do so in a short series of posts

This is the first post:

Nice! Thanks for posting the link.

I love Scottish Railways and have been fortunate to have traveled on many of them. My wife is from the West of Scotland and we travel there as much as we can to visit her family. When you travel around there, especially by train, the history is just everywhere and you can really “feel” it.

I am going to have a Whisky (Scotch) and read your post later this evening! I think I have  a bottle of Oban that will do very nicely.

The Ballachulish Branch - Part 2

In Part 1 of this story we covered much about the history of the line between Connel Ferry and Ballachulish. We start Part 2 with a few reminders of what was covered in Part 1 and provide some additional material from various sources before continuing our journey North along the branch.

This is the third of three posts planned to cover the Ballachulish Branch. It includes the final length of the line approaching Ballachulish, some details about the quarries and a link to the November 1950 article about the line which is held in The Railway Magazine Archives. (Sadly, you will need to pay for membership if you want to read the original article).
