White rigid foam board

I bought 1 1/2 rigid foam board from Home Depot for my layout.I bought it because it was marked down form $14 for a 4x8 foot to $7.They even cut it for me so it would fit in my car and save me time later.I did not see any difference between the blue or pink rigid board other than the price.I hope it works out.I plan on using sculptamould for my ground cover.Did I make a bad choice?It has foil on one side and a clear barrier that I can peel off.I'm trying to do this as cheaply as possible.

Since you called it rigid board foam, it sounds like you didn't buy the white beaded foam (like those cheap foam coolers) that gets extra messy when you cut it.  Other than the foil and plastic barrier on it, which sounds like it might be peeled off, it's probably fine for scenery.  The price sure was good.

That's nice that the store cut the foam for you.  I usually take my four-foot straight edge, a measuring tape, and a snap-blade knife with me to the store and cut the foam in the parking lot.  Last weekend, I cut up a 4' x 8' piece of 2" foam into four 2' x 4' pieces to get it home in my car.  Easy peasy.

It's not like the foam that leaves tiny balls when cut.The spec sheet says rigid cellular polystyrene insulfoam board.It also says on the board it can be used for craft base.

I call spring in Wisconsin "Foam Season". When construction begins on structures and roofers are hard at work a single windy day can sometimes generate foam chunks scattered across the countryside along roads and in fields. The season roughly corresponds with orange barrel season, ending in late fall. Perfect for layout work, simply look for sheets and chunks of pink, blue and white foam downwind of construction sites and bring in the harvest! I've found sheets as big as 4 x 4' floating around some neighborhoods, sometimes miles from any construction site!

There is new home construction going on where my daughter lives but they use a wrap on those new homes instead of foam board.I thought about looking for foam board .lol
