Question re Micro-Trains Box Car Doors

I have a Micro-Trains 37000 series boxcar with two YSD sliding doors which scale out at 7 1/2 feet wide.  The prototype car I wish to represent has two 8'-0" sliding doors.

The Micro-Trains website lists #1091 (499 20 937) as single 8' Youngstown doors which are compatible with series 37000 cars.
They also list #1092 as pair of 8' Youngstown doors but do not state compatibility with any specific car series.

Can anyone tell me if:
1. these replacement 8' doors are actually 8' scale wide or are they the same 7 1/2' wide doors?
2. the 1092 pair of doors will also fit the 37000 series cars?

As far as I know the #1092 is 7.5 feet wide.  At least, they were 35 years ago when I bought my stash.  They now have true 8 ft Superior doors, but only as single doors, not for double-door cars.

I also needed 8 ft YSD doors for a project, and ended up buying two Atlas PS-1s to get the doors.  Fortunately I could resell the rest of the undec kits, but still, that's expensive!

Well what do you know, I just happen to have two Atlas undecorated PS-1s on my workbench right now for another boxcar project, which require Superior doors.  If there are 8' YSD doors in the box and they will somehow fit onto the MT car, then I am set!

If you have the Atlas undec model with the 8-foot opening, then yes the doors are 8 scale feet.

I checked the fit of the Atlas doors and they would work well on the MT car; they would have to be glued in place.

Then I heard from Joe at MT that the #1092 replacement doors are 8' wide and will fit the 37000 body.

If I can find some 1092 doors I'll use those as I can use the Atlas doors on another boxcar project.

They may have retooled the 1092s since I bought mine.  The old ones are 23/40 inch wide, which is 7' 8" in N scale.  The 1093 "8 foot Superior doors" really are 8', 24/40s. 

40ths of an inch are very handy in N scale, as that's 0.025 inches, or exactly 4 scale inches.  I have an old architect's scale marked in 10ths, 20ths, 30ths, 40ths, 50ths, and 60ths.

Yep I checked a new pack of 1092s in my LHS today and they are definitely shy of 8'; the Atlas doors would be a big improvement for the car but I don't know if Atlas can supply them separately; parts supply has been very poor lately.

If Atlas can, and would, sell their doors separately, it would be a great help to kitbashers.  They have styles MT hasn't even thought of, including 5 and 6 panel Superior, and actual P-S doors.

I've long wondered why MT made a PS-1, but never tooled real P-S doors.  Maybe because very few roads seem to have used them?

The good news about the six styles of Atlas PS-1 boxcars (two roof variants x three door-width variants) is that the undecorated cars contain all of the parts variants — doors, brakewheels, tackboards, etc.  So you get a bunch of spare parts when you buy the undec models.
