What are the main spotting differences between the Alco C424 and C425?

The main spotting point is the 425 has a bulge above the radiator intake up to the radiator "wing" for what I surmise is a slightly bigger fan. The 424 is flush with the carbody above the intake and has a slight taper below the wing. Other normal carbody ID differences such as vents are too inconsistent to pin down and vary within each model, then there are US vs. Canadian differences to confuse things further. You'll need to find photos of the specific prototype(s) you're modeling to verify.

(I appreciate Alcos but am no expert. I'm sure somebody will chime in with more specifics than this.)

There was once a great thread on this on the old Atlas form ...

Some info here (see the footnotes):

The Lifelike C424 is a phase one with "extended" number boards on the long hood. All other phases and the US C425s have the normal notched number boards on the long hood.
