Back to brush-painting the trees.   I switched to a much smaller brush which does help to do a much neater job, and I have more control over the colors.  The trees on the nearest layer should probably be a bit larger, tho they still are quite distant (and need more haze).

It doesn't take as long as you might think, otoh it would get tedious over a large area.

Took some time after starting over, but I'm happier with this result.   This is 2x4 feet, so time to get started on a bigger diorama.

Pretty slick, Ed. I recognized that cut on 58 immediately.

Yep, that's from projecting an image onto the panel and basically tracing the form from that.   The images I have are old and rather poor quality, but that's what I have to work with.

Here is another pic, with a train in it to give a sense of the scale.   I'm planning to re-visit my colors and fix a few other things, after doing some kind of updated diorama.

I found some of my pics from the construction of this dio and figured I might as well post some of them here -- mainly for posterity, but also for reference, since these have some post-it notes stuck on them showing the (approximate) sequence of steps and materials that I used in some of the places along the way.  ;)

Cheers,
Ed
