On my way to the club meeting tonight I saw this lash up.
I'm not sure how many of these UP owns but they are the only railroad that does. Then having an NS, former CSX now lease and csx makes for a nice find. Good enough to get me off the freeway and take some closer pictures

Departed Brookville a couple of weeks ago and is now back at SFMTA.

A week prior, the 3rd El Paso car began its journey back to Texas.

Holy heck! I saw that lashup when it was stuck in Vegas overnight earlier this week. The PRLX unit died in Arden Yard. I really liked see the T4 ACe. We have one in Vegas on Local duty right now too. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

That's freaking cool. When I passed it on the way home, the loco's were gone but the train was still on the track.

I spent last week doing fieldwork around Churchill, Manitoba.  It is a neat place, but the bugs and bears make it a bit challenging.  We worked along the Hudson Bay Railroad quite a bit.  It is abandoned due to flood damage to the south, and the port in Churchill is closed.  The line was blocked and in good repair where I visited.  The aerial shot is a bit fuzzy due to helicopter vibes, but you sure get a sense of the terrain they built this line over.  Those polygons in the aerial shot are clear evidence of permafrost, and everything is a wet morass.

This is a shot of the port from the view of the Churchill River.  Hudson Bay is in the background (it was 29degC and dead calm- people were swimming with the whales, literally!).  There are the grain elevators, a small container port and some other tracks.  The only rolling stock I saw were some empty bulkhead lumber cars.  The port closure has hit the town hard but hopefully a deal will be made to repair the line.

Wow Scott those are impressive pics. Such a spot, what work do you do?
I always perk up when nature programmes highlight Churchill and HBay for their wildlife.

I'm guessing broken infrastructure and distant port facilities just aren't important in this world of bottom-line counts any longer.
Maybe they should purchase an old liner and tie it up as a luxury hotel spot. At least the community and nature lovers will then have a destination and work available.
