Scale trains demo unit?

So like, when is it acceptable to run scale trains blue demo unit? Can i run it as a "leasing" unit with others or were they sold and painted quickly? Educate me please.

Some of those units have been in that blue paint for three years. You should be fine to run them as lease units on your modern trains. They are pretty nondescript locomotives, it’s not like they are the UP or NS Heritage Units.

I've seen them on both UP and BNSF trains down here in Texas within the past few months.

Quite a few of the blue GECX locomotives are running around on CN right now, among other leased stuff.

Quite a few of the blue GECX locomotives are running around on CN right now, among other leased stuff.

CN has purchased 12 of them outright.

Heck 2022 was built in 4/2013, so more like 5 years. So the higher the number the later the build date of course.
