On the BLI E units, I think they need to lose the traction tires - definitely an obstacle to electrical pickup ("covered wagon" diesels should have plenty of room for weight).

Agreed, and not just the E's. The PA's as well. Fortunately, BLI sells spare, non-TT drivers. Converting them is a snap.

Not going to happen, sadly. BLI decided several years ago that their market niche was sound, and dropped DC versions from the catalog. (Of course! When customers will willingly pay $100 or more over the "base" version for a $10/wholesale bit of electronics, I'd do it, too.)

I have a brace of now-rare DC E8s. They did the DC versions right, with 8-pin NMRA decoder connectors that made upgrading a breeze. Like you I have a set of PAs with the sound decoders, and I opened them up intending to de-sound them. With everything either a gray or black wire, it's going to be a little bit of a puzzle to sort out. Not impossible, but time consuming. So they're sitting on a display shelf at the moment and might or might not get moved to the bench for a decoder transplant in the foreseeable future.

What you said, plus ATSF steam.

Second that on Santa Fe steam, the 3800 class 2-10-2 they did in HO would be lovely. So would the RSD-15 Alligator as well.

A big YES! on the ATSF steam; a 3800 and a 4-8-4, just like in HO. And a 4000 class mike, just like in HO, except that one is probably not happening, lack of reservations to date.

Link's up on BLW to Hogtrainz for reserving BLI SD70ACEs if your layout can justify the sound premium to get these instead of the Fox Valley or Kato units. I'm wondering how they will sell given that the Heritage Unit market is pretty well covered already thanks to other N scale manufacturers.

$185 For the DRGW is cheaper than what the used Kato unit goes for.  I may have to bite.
