anyone tried this? I'm probably going with Peco code 55 given how robust they are...but I do have a few pieces of Kato tram track and really like it and their switches are amazing... Not sure I want to change everything over to Kato.

Joe, if it was me, I would use the Kato to Atlas transition tracks and go with the Peco track

Hi Joe.
Kato track is code 80 and Peco code 55 track is really code 80 sunk into the ties.
You don't need a transition track to marry Kato with Peco. Just slip the rail joiner onto the bottom of the Peco track.
Use Peco rail joiners as they are thinner.
