Loksound micro select install in Atlas n scale B23-7

[attach=1Just completed another loksound install.   The body was just wide enough to fit in the decoder at the rear without slimming down the inside. Two cheapo Chinese 220uF x 25v caps installed, after exhaustive burn-in tests. They are fine. For good measure I ran it with the body off for a while too.
Leds were soldered each directly to a 1kohm smd resistor and stuck on a scrap piece of styrene with ca glue and then stuck on top of the decoder plastic shrink wrap at rear and on the forward inner wall of a roll your own and very short light enclosure glued to the roll your own speaker enclosure. I had to cut the original forward light tube a bit shorter and a small piece off the frame in front of the board slot, where the original light shield clipped in, to fit the speaker in the cab. That was the only modification done to the loco.  I still have to tidy up the wiring a little.

Sweet, looks good. I love the sound of these, and there's actually a dash7 sound file for these now.

Thanks, I was pleased with how easy this install went. Yes, I have the sound file for the GE 12 cylinder FDL dash 7 in this one. Sound file no. 73838.

Nice install, Steve! Yes, these are fairly easy installs with the wide bulge in the shell. I did a B23-7 and a B30-7 as well.

I really love the sound file on this one. The start up sequence in particular. 
Next projects will be an old kato green box c30-7 with the non dcc ready frame.  The frame on this one will need quite a bit of milling, or in my case hack saw and filing, at the rear to get the loksound 73800 in with caps at very back to support the rear light and put the speaker up front with lights, similar to the B23-7.
Also an atlas gp35 with dcc ready frame. On this one the top of the frame above the motor is quite tall approx 3.5mm. Plan is to cut down the frame above the motor over the rear two thirds, just above the motor cradle clips, for the loksound 73800 decoder and speaker in rear and caps up front.
The shells in both of these will need none or very little slimming down.
