That must have been what I was remembering.  I stand corrected.

These are nice cars, glad more are showing up.  Check out Canada Southern http://www.canadasouthern.com/caso/NYC-MODELS-FREIGHT2.htm for lots of roster info.  The corrugated-end cars are a match to the most common version floating around the NYC system.  The Dreadnought cars are stand-ins - the NYC prototypes were 5-4 as opposed to 4-4 on the model, as the real cars were 9'-4" IH as opposed to 8'-7" for the corrugated end versions.  BLI kept the height the same for both and swapped out the ends.

P&LE had the 9'-4" IH Dreadnoughts http://www.canadasouthern.com/caso/images/lot-596.jpg, as well as a 9'-4" IH rebuild of its USRA single-sheathed cars with the corrugated ends http://www.canadasouthern.com/caso/images/lot-630.jpg.  So both BLI models are too short for the P&LE, although if you are not bothered by the 9" shaved off they are otherwise pretty nice models.

According to the late Richard Hendrickon there were a very limited number of Spec 486 box cars with Dreadnaught ends.

From the STMC Yahoo Group "That information is also in the roster in my March, 2007 Railmodel Journal article on these cars. The only Spec. 486 box cars that had Dreadnaught ends were those built in 1927: 1,000 cars for the Big Four (later absorbed into the NYC roster), 50 cars for the Peoria & Eastern, and 1,000 cars for the NYC itself. So that's 2,050 cars out of almost 21,000, approximately one in ten. All the other cars had 7-8 corrugated ends. - Richard Hendrickson"

Thanks for the clarification, Bob!

Looks like those cars are Lots 559-B (Big Four), 560-B (P&E), and 563-B (NYC).  Though the diagrams don't show the 4-4 Dreadnought end, this photo sure does...

So BLI did a better job than I thought...

So these boxcars are gonna have see-through slots on the side, for consistency, right?

Does anyone know if the 2nd run P&E have new road numbers or are they the same as the 1st release?

Nah, nah Ed, these are actually very well done and unique models, credit where credit is due. I have a few, and may buy more. We need more unique prototypes on par with these, a la the "essential freight car" series.
And yeah, I agree, their stock cars totally suck, no clue what they was thinkin'...

Well I broke down and ordered another NYC car with corrugated ends and pre-55 logo. Too bad the Peoria and Eastern cars are only available in four packs. If anyone wants to sell me one of theirs, I'm game.
