New ESU system

On Facebook ESU showed a new system especially for the US and Australia. This system will give you a mobile control without the Ecos system.

It looks very similar to the Piko Smart Control, also made by ESU. Curious what the differences will be. The power output (7A instead of the 5A of the Piko) is already one thing. MRSP $499.

That is something I also would like to know. The Ecos doesn’t support all features of JMRI.

Being that this is an Android device, it must be open source.  So if the developer of any of the Android DCC/JRMI programs wanted to they could design their software to run on this device and implement the 'big knob'.  Also, it should be compatible with Digitrax's new wireless interface.

The important thing here is that you could (if the current Android software was ported over) buy the ESU system for yourself using the supplied command station, but then also use it if visiting a Digitrax setup (if it had wireless).  This is what I'll be watching for, as my DCC system is going on 15+ years and is in need of an update.

The throttles can be used on wiThrottle since they are android based. The way I read their info page it seems that they have advanced consisting (which wasn't supported with the eCos iirc) down to a drop down menu.
