We have a club trailer not a specific owner looking to see how N-trak clubs insurer contents and trailer from damage not liability. Any companies to recommend ? Can be two separate companies one for contents and one for damage to trailer. Thanks Jim K N-Trak

I'll ask how it works at our club meeting this Tuesday.  I'm not 100% sure on how it works for us.  Which is strange as I was club treasurer for a while and renewed the policy for the trailers the club owns.  But it was just through an insurance agency.  Not sure how the agency was picked out I think one of the members has been a customer at one point.  I seem to recall though something about who pulls the trailer and their insurance coming into play though.  Let ya know.

I would check with your liability carrier to see if it is already included in your coverage. I forget how or if BANTRAK's is covered. (and I pull it around)
In MD  the trailer is covered by the tow vehicle's insurance when it is connected. That is up to the limits that the tow vehicle's coverage allows. As soon as the ball is disconnected, coverage ends.
I would think the trailer will be the easy part. Contents will need documentation to prove a value. Sweat and labor values probably won't be able to be covered.

Still interested to see what you guys find out as to any info and of coarse it it may vary state to state. Just looking for a possible lead, North Raleigh N-Trak it mite be most clubs do not insure for damage and theft.
Thanks

Jim,

I can tell you, from first hand experience, that in my case my auto carrier paid me for a stolen trailer. This has been about 7 years ago and as I recall I paid the insurance company a small fee, something like $100.00, to add a rider to my auto policy to cover my trailer. It was a Wells Cargo 10x15 single axle trailer. It was stolen from my motel parking lot in Arlington, Texas on Saturday night. To shorten the story, the insurance company paid me exactly what I paid for the trailer and actually a little bit more because the sales invoice I sent them also included the cost of a good hitch installed on my pick up. I never told them nor did they ask.

It was rather funny because exactly one year after my loss the Fort Worth police dpt. called me in El Paso to tell me they recovered my trailer and I could come get it. I did not.

I will save bman the trouble of asking at our club meeting.  Our insurance co., is Cincinnati Insurance Co.  Our club's trailers, N and HO are insured for each occurrence, damage, medical expense, personal and ADV injury, collision and other than collision have a $250 deductible.  In Ohio, the trailer is covered by the towing vehicle's insurance, once unhitched, our insurance becomes the primary again.  It is secondary when the trailer is in tow.  This is good because say the tower has 500,000 coverage and is sued for 1million, our insurance would then kick in for the difference and help with the defense.  Even if you are in the right, you can still be sued.  We had a theft of the N trailer and modules, N-TRAK, several years ago, this carrier paid what we requested after I submitted evidence of what value the buildings and modules were selling for in the custom build market.  Spent hours searching the internet for custom builders and their prices for buildings and modules.  Check with a lawyer for your state as each state can be different, no fault versus a at fault state for example.  I hope that this answers your questions.  later, Craig
