Would there be any way to allow unlimited modifications for a limited period, say a week, then require an administrator to unlock the post for future modifications?

That would allow for correcting errors, or removing accidentally offensive material, while preventing wholesale deletions by disgruntled departees.

IIRC, we tried that for a while. One area where it blew-up was the instances where picture hosting had issues (most recent, Photobucket), and the poster had to edit an old post or many old posts to link to the new image host.

I'd personally have a problem with that... I find spelling and grammar errors in my four- and five-year-old posts all the time. Or so it seems.

Note: Images linked in my postings are on an HTTP server, not HTTPS. Enable "mixed content" in your browser to view.

There are over 1000 images on this server. Not changing anytime soon.

I have a similar issue (and also still slowly fixing my Photo-phucket affected posts).

I also do not think that post deletion by disgruntled members is a common thing to worry about. Besides,  :tommann: makes regular (daily?) backups, so even if someone goes nutty  :tommann: can restore all by their most recent posts.
