I think it was John Allen who used to bury stripwood in his backyard for 6 months, then dig it up after Mother Nature worked her magic on it. Not sure she could touch the plastic ties Atlas uses though.

Buried, probably not.  Left in the sun, UV would likely damage the ties, but whether it would "improve" them is debatable.

Say again??  I'm sitting on two bundles of Atlas N scale Code 55 flextrack that I'll never use.  Going to have to check out the prices it's fetching on ebay.

I don't know about eBay, but I know that it now retail prices are about $6-7 a stick.

MBK list $4.89 a stick, but if you buy a 25 pack it comes out to $5.96 a stick  :|

Crazy I popped all the rail out of mine to build turnouts.
