Digitrax PM42 question

I understand that a PM42 is made up of 4 individual auto-reverser/circuit breaker blocks, that each block is configured as either one or the other function, and that each one can be powered from individual sources (for example separate boosters). Here is my question for the DCC gurus: can the first block be setup as a circuit breaker, and then feed power to the other three blocks setup as auto-reverers to power three separate segments of track that would be both auto-reversing and circuit breaker protected? The application is a 3 track reverse loop staging yard module set. I want the whole module to be circuit breaker protected, and have each individual loop auto-reversing. Can a PM42 be used in this "nested" manner?
Because why not...

Digitrax does not recommend using one PM42 section as a circuit breaker for other sections on the same board that are being used for auto reversing. It can be done but results vary. Best is to separate the two on different boards.
