Help with the Cresson Bridges

Yes it is skewed. Sirenwerks, thaks for that pic of the other end. That is a lot of detail I was missing. Followed the link and looked at his pics. That guy just made my life a lot easier.

Considering the fly-over was removed sometime ago, photos are the only source you're gonna have. Flickr is a particularly good source of obscure stuff, you just have to be creative with your keyword searches.

Looking around I have decided on these bridges.





The second is an HO bridge. It is a 1/4 inch too tall but just long enough. The real bridge does not have the detail this one has along the bottom so shaving a 1/4 inch off the bottom should work well.

The middle span will be a smaller through plate bridge I already have.

Some track is down.

If your HO bridge is the same length as the prototype span, it should be the right proportions according to this Photoshop experiment. If it's a 1/4" too tall then you must be spanning a wider space. Regardless, the proportions should still be the same otherwise the bridge will be too light.

I'd definitely say 10' for the girder depth on the bridge in the foreground, usually the depth is between 1/10 to 1/12 span in feet and depth is usually in foot and half foot increments. Panel widths are usually 15' to 16' in length.

Found the bridge girders on a travel stop at Mainline Modelers in Blue Ridge Summit. Started putting some pieces together for the bridges. Time to think of abutments as well.

OK, when you put it on the module it looks ok. I may shorten the center span a touch.





More accurately sized piers would help as well.

For the short span at the end you could trim the top off of a 90T hopper and finish the cut edge with a piece of strip styrene.
