@Robbman posted this about them.

Mind you even he states its an educated guess. Maybe Pete has more information?

Did Milwaukee have any of these? or were their cars all earlier versions?

Yes, Milwaukee had these cars too.

The earlier Mark II is still available from N Scale Kits as well, if you want to mix in some variety.

Thank you! I'll be sure to get a couple Mark-II and maybe one of these if Trainworx makes the scheme...

Which ones were used by the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy?

Did the CB&Q interchange with NYC?

CB&Q and NYC almost certainly interchanged in Chicago, although it may have been through one of  the switching lines, not directly.  I'm not familiar with that end of the Hill Lines...

For what it's worth:

In the Morning Sun Penn Central book, there is a photo of a CBQ Flexivan flat in the 96000-96024 series - built in 1968.  It is red. So there is proof CBQ flexivans interchanged with PC - so possibly NYC too..

It is loaded with PC and NYC US Mail vans....

BTW wasn't a lot of the intermodal interchange in Chicago done by unloading the trailer and driving it across town and then re-loading?

Lou:  I suspect there was, because it would be quicker than going through a switching line, with two interchanges, and probably cheaper as well.

NYC diesels should up regularly as run-through power on Q trains.

How far did the NYC diesels travel when in front of a Q train? IMHO Chicago was the western end for CB&Q as well as the eastern end for NYC. Or am I misunderstanding the run-through concept?

As stated elsewhere, the CB&Q had 25 Flexi-Van flats (#96000-96024) from Pacific Car and Foundry in Chinese red as well as fifty 40' silver containers (CBQU). It looks like Trainworx is doing a model that wasn't owned by the Q.   :(

CB&Q Power could be found as far east as New York and NYC power could be found in Omaha, Kansas City and likely even St Paul.
With agreements with UP/SP NYC & CB&Q power could run through to the west coast.

Typically home road power would be in the lead but the run through units were very common in the 1960's (either on run through trains or paying back owed hours)

Unsure what you're trying to say with western end/eastern end?

I didn't know that CB&Q locos travelled further east than Chicago or that NYC locos travelled further west than Chicago, hence western/eastern end.

I was under the impression that run through only referred to the freight cars and perhaps the caboose (e.g. white cupola on red ATSF caboose), but not the motive power.

Okay I understand what you were saying a little clearer.   :)

Yes as I said the power could be seen all over the respective systems. I'm having a hard time finding photographs considering how many I've seen published over the years but here is a few.

Pat Dorin's book Everywhere west has a 1967 shot on p116 of three NYC U boats leading a CB&Q U25b at Savannah Il.

And for good measure here's a few other interesting Pool power shots I found while searching.

And on the east end of the EL too.  Numerous photos of Binghamton NY in various Morning Sun EL books of Q, GN, NP and BN power.  MILW made it that far too.
