I think Jason summed up the N Scale Supply warehouse pretty well. I had a few friends attend the last one and they said the same thing. I'm not impressed with the new Caboose, the best part is seeing
@ednadolski old layout in there; but even with that, when I was in there they had a lone engine circling, not even a train.
If you'd like to see the Forney layout, I have contacts to the guys that run it and could figure out when they'll be there. It's big, but in the back warehouse where it's very dusty and lighting is poor. The workmanship on the layout leaves a lot to be desired; it's been a couple years since I've seen it though.
http://moffatmodelers.org/index.htmlRailfanning the Denver and Rock Island is enjoyable if you like industrial switching. A lot of their trackwork is easily accessible so you can get up close, within reason, and not upset the employees. They are on they north side of I-70, just east of I-25.
You can also get very close to UP's North Yard. There is an overpass you can walk across that puts you above the south throat, tower and engine facility. You can also stand under the overpass and be right next to their drill track, however, the tower is also right there so mind your position.
The BNSF yard isn't very accesible.
Denver Union Station is neat to visit if you like modern architecture. I was part of the structural engineering team on that. They put restaurants and a hotel in the station, so only the outside resembles it's former self. They also removed the clubs from the basement.
Lastly, there is a lot of switching and industrial trackage in the area around I-70 and I-25 that is very easy to access and railfan both UP and BNSF locals. I don't know the schedules though.
