I dug out my Z tankcar just to see what it would take to make an N scale car from it.  One would probably be better off scratchbuilding the thing.  The kitbash could be done, and the car would be usable, but everything on it is wrong.

For starters, it's an old design riveted tank, with the inset ends, like the Atlas/Rivarossi "chemical" car in N scale.

The dome is wrong, as it should have the chemical style, not the round common-liquid style.

The frame is far too narrow, and would have to be replaced, walkways, underframe, bolsters and all.

Finally, the entire car, except the two removable ends and the brakewheel, is a one piece casting, so replacing anything would require a lot of carving and filing.

On the plus side, put MT N trucks under it and the body mounted 903s are at the right height.  The bolster holes are too small for N truck pins, but that can be fixed several ways.

Not at all an easy kitbash, unlike mine from years ago, for an auxiliary water tank for my narrow gauge rotary.  Put MT Nn3 trucks under one of the MT 39 ft tankcars and the couplers are the right height for Nn3.  It looks very odd, but then, a prototype standard gauge tank on narrow gauge trucks also looks odd.

Shapeways is another possibility.  Weren't the plans for this car in MR some years back?

From the Spookshow article.  :)

An article about said car appears in the Oct, 1963 issue of Model Railroader magazine

:|             About 25 years ago or so "Hobbies Emporium" in Reno, Nevada did not only nice custom painted locomotives in N , but a very nice model of a Crio Tank Car. The body is a well done resin casting, etched metal end platforms and wire end railings were used. Very pricey  model for its day if I' am recalling I paid thirty dollars and some cents not counting the shipping for mine (could only afford one) it is in a flat black UTLX paint scheme the car number is 789 all the small white data is on the sides, probably a Micro Scale sheet was used. Trucks are MT Medium extension Barber. The wire rails on the end platforms are very delicate, I kept breaking them off and having to re ACC, until I learned to hold the car in the middle, a very unique model, yes someone should make one again. Yes, as I previously mentioned, I had one of these also.  BLI is probably the best bet to bring this to N...
