To add to Peteski's reply, in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the Mercedes cars were generally owned by wealthy people, such as doctors and lawyers.  One of the doctors with a late 1960s Mercedes 280 SE lived near where my family lived, but had a Jeep Wagoneer to haul his "toys" to the lakes and mountains.  His 280 SE was strictly used in town or for highway trips. 

However, nowadays it is not uncommon to see Mercedes SUVs and Sprinter vans pulling trailers.  A lot of the SUVs now come with factory installed trailer hitches.   :)

With the Mercedes C300 in the $35,000 range, anyone can own a Mercedes now!  :D

How true!  In the area I live (Boise, ID) a Mercedes is about as common as a Buick.   :o
