BLW Find of the Day - RC Covered Hoppers

BLW just posted some Red Caboose 3000, 4700, 4740, 4750 Covered Hoppers they found in inventory, long discontinued.  Good selection of roads available.  Some with prices starting at $9.75  :o , but also have Rapido couplers.  Could be good source to fill out a grain train with ATSF, BN, BNSF, CNW, N&W, and others, including some leasing companies included.

I have a bunch of similar hoppers for sale in the Trading Post, priced at $6 each, if anyone is interested. Mine all have Micro-Trains couplers. NOTE - I also have the shorter hoppers that are not listed in the ad.

Hmm... Kiz, the salesman...

The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

A basket case came as part of other cars I wanted 2 weeks ago . I am trying to back date it enough to fit in the 50's decade as a W&LG MW sand car . It was crushed on both ends & missing the roof . Still scratch fabing the ladders , most everything else is as good as it will get .

Wow, these have been unavailable for years! It was a sort of Holy Grail effort to get the N&W 4740s about 10 years ago ...

Did you order any N&W @Mark5 ?  They are already removed from the website  :?

Not a problem if you plan to body-mount the couplers and add proper 100T trucks...

Thanks for the heads-up!

I placed an order including 2 N&W hoppers.  Already got shipping notice, only had 1 car included.  So either I got last car he had, or he only had 1 number left, I had requested 2 different road numbers if possible.

No, I have all the road numbers that Red Caboose did. The N&W lettering was good for those days, though today I'd give the lettering a 7 or an 8 (out of 10). I hope the 4740s get re-run one of these days.

And now this morning, the N&W's are showing up again after being removed Saturday.  I refreshed my browser, and checked it on a different device as well.  Wonder if he found more.  :?

Too bad they aren't the cheaper cars with either the Rapido or Unimate couplers, that extra money for the MTL trucks would be better spent on Trainworx body mount conversion kits for the Precision Masters/Red Caboose covered hoppers that should be available several months from now...

Just to update this thread, 4 cars remain.  1 3000 cu ft in BN with accumates.  3 4750s in MKT, Frisco and GTA, with imagine that, the rapido couplers.
