Lowell Smith Exectuive Line UP Business cars are here

:|      The two Union Pacific Business cars from Lowell Smith Trains are now out. One car features the MT heavyweight observation car body and monitor roof the other uses the MT made exclusively for Lowell Smith modernized business car body with modernized roof. I ordered and received my car with the modernized body. It is very nicely done, but has several faults that only a Semi-Revit-Counter UP modeler would object to. Biggest error, the car end with rear windows on the platform should be Armor Yellow not gray. This can be corrected by removing the roof masking the windows and platform and deck and repainting the end. Error number two this car has the car name "Pocatello" on the sides. The real Pocatello is a light weight car that was originally numbered before it was named rebuilt from a LTW coach it looks similar to the Kato business car. Union Pacific's modernized heavyweight cars all had numbers, the model looks a lot like the 104, 110, 111. The big difference is that the six wheel trucks were replaced with four wheel lightweight trucks identical to that under some of the Kato UP cars. I can however live with the MT trucks under my car, I will repaint the rear end, and replace the name with a number. There is a nice simulated rear red emergency light on the rear platform railing. The other car from Lowell Smith just does not look like any UP heavyweight cars painted in the yellow scheme but not modernized as all of these cars had side windows at two different heights. UPP 104 is still twelve-wheeled but it is a more modern truck than what is used on the Lowell Smith/MT car, like what was used under Budd Big/Great Domes and Budd Hi-level diner...
