I would hang an Ichabod painting on my wall... has to be one of my favorite artists. :)

A few shots of the Prairie Dog from last fall. Grosse Isle, MB Sept 14, 2014.

Got these two in the Grand Rapids Eastern yard this morning.I could have spent hours there just taking pictures of covered hoppers but some would have required trespassing on private property.

This was a few weekends ago but WSOR leading into Elkhart, IN. The Grand Elk RR (a Watco RR) has 2 of these WSOR units on their roster and are quite the treat to see here. The train has just came onto NS rails to interchange with the NS at Elkhart yard.

Equally important - what's up with that signal head?

I don't exactly know what that pipe thing is but I believe it is something left over from the NYC, maybe a water pipe. The train is passing in front of Elkhart's Amtrak station. Not sure what you mean about the signal heads.

A somewhat unique NYC practice. They had a fondness for those US&S "Type G" triangular heads, and adopted the target size across the board... regardless whether the head needed 1, 2 or 3 indications. So that head is a fixed red over R-Y-G over (probably) R-Y.

MY question is, OK, now which track does that signal apply to? Likely it's the track the train is on, but without a doll post it's not clear. However, there could easily be a dwarf controlling the left track that might be just out of the frame.

I was trapped at a crossing while the Dupont switcher did it's work.  This hopper caught my eye and I took a few shots after it rolled back and forth a few times.  I have this model of Atlas car in this scheme, so I figured it would be a great project.
