I remember reading the RMC series on the V&O back in the 1970s. The articles conveyed a real sense of a railroad at work, and transformed my idea of what a model railroad could be.

The V&O is the only freelance railroad that I would consider having a piece of rolling stock for (circa early 1970s V&O paint scheme).

I would love to have a transition-era V&O freight car on my 1950s roster. If the Wagontop wasn't such an iconic esoteric signature design for only the B&O, I would have bought one. I do have both a V&LZ451530621USO and AM modern boxcar for my Conrail era roster.

My thoughts exactly... The wagon top seems wrong for either road... Perhaps Matt would consider a Midland Road x29 considering Tony K's Nickle Plate connection...

They could have had one.  It wasn't unusual for a car wrecked offline to be paid for, rather than repaired or shipped home, leaving the handling road stuck with it.  If it was salvageable they could then put it in service, sometimes as a one-of-a-kind.  A few MILW horizontal ribbed cars ended up on other roads that way.

Maybe Hornby could do the U25C? That would be more appropriate for my era than either loco offering so far, though I may still get a SD40-2. I wouldn't mind a few boxcars either.

I wouldn't be surprised if either road had a few PS-1s, either 40 or 50 ft, so MT, Athearn, and/or Atlas could all make one in the pre-merger schemes.  MT and Atlas have made special runs before, and neither are strictly prototype manufacturers, so it wouldn't be a stretch for them.

Besides, if the V&O has an historical society, it would seem to be as "official" as any 1:1 railroad...

Hey, that is one of the header images!  Where did you get the Two Guys decals?

I fondly remember shopping there with my mom in the late '70s buying clothes, plastic model kits and hobby supplies.  Then there was Woolworth, JJ Newberry and of course Crazy Eddie's.  The fund teenage days....
