In fairlness, if you read the Autodesk descriptions for the Ember, they say they haven't gotten FCC approval yet for the lasers and such and that the device isn't quite ready for mainstream consumer sales. I take that to mean they *will* be selling it through regular channels in the future (probably later this year).

Fair enough. They may be hedging their bets at this point because FCC certification in consumer products is tighter than devices intended for commercial environments. But, still, the disclaimer of excluding a certain class of user yet using that niche's creative product as samples to demonstrate capability hits me as pretty cynical.
