EL 40-foot boxcar rebuilds

I found some time this weekend to finish up a pair of IM 40-foot boxcar kits, to represent EL's Meadville shop rebuilds.  These N scale kits allow you to use different end/roof combinations on the 10'6" core.  I added the reinforced side sill on both, and used BLMA etched grabs and short brass ladders on the A ends.

The first one represents a 1941 build, with 5/5 ends and panel roof (74500-74999 series):

The second one represents late-40's construction, with R+3/4 ends and Stanray diagonal roof (70250-71845 series):

I used a mix of Pollyscale paint, the excellent Prime Mover Decals set for the main lettering, with Microscale ACI labels and COTS plates.  I finished them off with artist oils on the roof and a light wash on the sides.  I swapped in Atlas Barber S2A trucks in place of the crappy kit parts and body-mounted Micro-Trains 1015s:

   Frank,
    Great Cars !!
but watch the cars heights, the ex-Erie cars were 10'4", while the
  ex-DL&W cars were 10'.
the ORER may go into which groups were which.
some cars had National Type B trucks.
any of the Gray Rebuilds coming ?

Very nice!  I plan on doing similar WM rebuilds on day.  Had no idea there were any EL decals available.  A few projects have been on hold because of that.  I went to the website and only the HO boxcar decals are listed though.

Drop the owner (Paul) an email; he has this set's artwork resized and can print them using Alps.  It makes the decal edges a little tougher to hide but it's totally worth it, as the set includes even the smallest trust lettering for these cars.

I was going to ask about the EL boxcar decals myself.  Thanks for the information.  BTW, those cars look great!
