Sorry, I'm sure these will make a bunch of folks happy.   Just wondering...what's so hard about good ole standard 20, 40, 45, 48, and (especially) 53-foot shipping containers?   The 2-3 per decade we're getting from Kato and Deluxe are great and all, but...

Now there is a narrow bit of near-modern RR history. Stac-Pacs ran from 1971-1976, so if you're modeling that time frame, wonderful, if not... wellllll.

A little pricey, as you need four (plus the flat car) to model a single car. Though it probably happened, I don't recall ever seeing anything less than a full load of Stac-Pacs. I may still jump behind a couple of cars' worth since they're so evocative of the era and region I model. I saw oodles of these things at a nearby scrapyard in the late '70s, so you could easily run them up to 1980 en route to a scrapper. Working for SP at the time they were removed from service, I recall discussions about repurposing that didn't pan-out.

suhhhweeet.   I'm in for a group of these.  Price is a little disappointing but hey, not that far off from 40' double stacks for the same train length.

They WERE great. I stopped buying containers (and well cars) from Kato since they all have the same number. That is just ridiculous.

I assume they do it to lower production costs, but I just don't like it.

We currently don't have one in N scale.

You can see the guides on the side sill for lowering the containers.  I'm curious what hand brake was used since it looks like it's below the sill.

Notice the "TTSX" reporting marks and the brackets at the corners of the containers. These were cars specifically modified for the Stac-Pac service, TTX and Santa Fe (not a TTX member at the time, I think) had cars. Looks like an 89' Z-channel car, so somebody else will need to chime-in with where to source these in N.

Maybe this is a sneak preview that Trainworx is going to offer a Z-channel car?

It's a PLH10.  That as close as you're going to get for sourcing them. 

I've been preaching for a low deck flat for a while.  This one wouldn't help me because it's too late, but would be an awesome for N scale if for no other reason than tri-level auto racks.

It's being said on the MFCL that these are designed for the BLMA car.  I wonder if that will mean at least correct paint schemes for the flats.

1971-1976 fits my era, and was while we lived in Pasco, WA, with the big BN (NP) yard, but I don't remember ever seeing one of these.  Were they restricted to certain routes?

awesome I hope we get a the low deck f89a flat to go with these it would also give trainworx a flat that would allow for tons of early open and partially enclosed racks Heck the low deck was used for tofc also it is a much needed flat that is very versatile.
