HELP GP50 CRASHED WON'T RUN

hello my son's Bachmann gp50 took a trip to the floor, no outside damage but it's dead. like the super dad I am I took it to the bench and took off the shell and unscrewed the chassis and dropped the thing and the parts flew off,  any one have a diagram how this is supposed to go back together, mainly the copper strips that go behind the wheels how do they fit?
thanks

Mark,
if it is the older N scale loco with white exposed gears in the trucks then the pickup strips sit between the back of the wheels and the gear case,  The semi-circular loops are up on the top, pointing outward. When the truck is mounted in the chassis, that puts pressure on the loops which then press the flat pieces of the contact strip against the backs of the wheels.

The model should have included an assembly diagram and parts breakdown in its box.

The one for the GP50 looks pretty useless in this case.

The wheel wipers are like many of the other early bachmann diesels.  The F7 might show it the best.

Otherwise, all the diagrams are on the Bachmann site, maybe find one that makes sense visually.

This must be a revised design. The one I was thinking of (and which I described earlier) has the pickup strips loosely fit. In this one the strips are heat-riveted to the to the gear case.

Mark.
If you have not been able to fix yours, drop me a PM, and I'd be happy to donate mine. Bought it new 2 years ago so it is Bachmann's latest design for this chassis. It may have a total of an hour of run time on it. It is clean, and runs well.
