I guess that page needs some fixin!

Yah, unfortunately there are some errors and a lot of dead links.  The webmaster has been great about dealing with such... maybe an email to him is in order.

If they are NKP class S1 then I may yet rebuild one Rivarossi class S2 into a decent runner.  That would explain the bearings on the tender trucks, which are correct for S1 but not for S2.   I'll just renumber the Bachmann to something more appropriate.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

I wish they had done the S-2, since that gets you numbers 740-769, but like you I'll take the S1 and renumber as appropriate.  Apparently the S1 became the prototype because Bachmann originally did the Berk due to a contract to produce a Polar Express train in HO scale.  The engine for the Polar Express was the Pere Marquette 1225, which is darn near an exact copy of the NKP S-1.   Or at least this is what Tony Koester told me.  When Bachmann decided to take the work on the Polar Express train and turn it into a more prototypical model, they left most of the S-1 characteristics, including the lack of roller bearings and the 4 sand lines (instead of 6 on the S-2 class).   But they added the Mars light! Hallelujah!  The ConCor Rivarossi also has the Mars light, but I just didn't feel like putting in the work to convert them to DCC sound.

That is the cleanest, glossiest steam locomotive I've ever seen!

Hmm... give me a crate
of Brillo pads...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

Very slick finish, not very prototypical

And where is the steam dome, not in front or behind the sand dome...

Guys... should we be mean and send him back to page 2 to read the answer?  After all, it is the biggest difference between the VGN BAs and the other two 2-8-4s.

I mention remedial reading and I can't appreciate humor, especially with the link to that beautiful shot being in the same post and U can't appreciate the humor.  Come on now, lighten up Otto... you are appreciated!!!
