Side tracked!

I got side tracked by a discussion into Norfolk Southern passenger equipment with some of the guys in the NSHS.

This is the result:

The floor is the flat thing at the top of the screen shot.

The roof and floor are both separate.  I figure this should make the printing better; it will also make painting and assembly easier.  Next steps are to finish engineering the floor (things like bolsters, etc) as well as draw up appropriate etched details.

Looking good Iain.  Do keep in mind, though, that early vestibuled cars had shorter doors and either an arched piece above the door or at least rounded corners, as found on this shot of NS 265.  Seems odd in a way for this to be the case and there are exceptions to this (though most were later modifications vs. actual patterns used when constructing the cars.  I do hope that this turns out to be a viable product... I know that I will need a couple!!!

Woops, I missed the rounded corners on the doors.

As it happens, that is the car I am going for, as NS had rather a few of 'em.  I'd like to do a train's worth.

Thanks!

I dunno, should you be?   :P  I guess I shouldn't note that I don't have a college degree?

BTW, I had not really planned to sell these; just like with the Lima projects, I am mostly doing it for myself.

I am interested in this, as it seems quite closely match other heavyweight wooden coaches of the time
(notably ones like this SP&S beauty I would like to model) (see below).

What will you do about the glass surfaces in the arches above the windows?  They are supposed to be openings with
 Isenglass semi-transparent windows in them.

I was going to paint them, since they don't need to be see-through.

Good point.  With some murky yellow paint with a bit of green and brown swirling in it, they could probably
be made to look right.
