The anchor cement looks good, I just hope I don't need to buy 10 lbs of it!

That was the smallest that I could find at the time. I know that 10lbs is the smallest that we carry at my store (HD Conway, NH) but that Quikrete also makes it in 6lb buckets.

I had to get the 10 lb. bucket, too.  Thankfully, it's not that expensive.

This thread has been relocated to my spank bank. Great stuff, guys! We even managed to sneak in an F-Bomb.

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Hmm... the nerve...!

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.
"It works! It works!"

I agree this thread has showed some effing awesome modeling. And I think 100% of these examples were scratch built.

Ian- I love the way your terrain flows, it looks very natural. I'm definitely going to try your Quikrete method.  I'm gonna try to make some tunnel portals with it as well.

Not sure why 'switch' vs. turnout is still an issue.  Lot's of prototype documentation on that.

More that the term is modeling specific than a misunderstanding. I believe MR printed many years ago that in the beginnings of MR it was decided to call track switches "turnouts" so that electrical switches could be called switches, and not have the reader confuse the two.
