Anyone try cutting off the end cross pieces on the trucks that extend from one side to the other and include the outside brake shoe details at the ends (the Walthers versions still have the end cross pieces but without the brake shoe details)? If so, did it effect performance in any way? I would like to make them look more like GP60 trucks without going through the expense of switching them to Atlas trucks and this seems like it would would help, so long as the sideframes don't lose stability or strength. It looks like there might be enough structure remaining towards the center that would still hold everything together, more along the lines of the Atlas or Kato design, but I'm not certain.
