Anchorage police say they have arrested a man for tampering with incoming mail to the Alaska Railroad Corporate Center. Bob Brakeman, 26 of Anchorage, was taken into custody at a nearby trailer park yesterday without incident.
In a statement to police, Brakeman, an ARRC employee, claimed that he wanted to move quickly up the company ladder, and said that he heard that his company was searching for a new CEO. Brakeman then stated that he would wait each day for the mail to arrive, and would then remove any incoming mail in hopes he would be chosen from within the company pool.
After police took Brakeman into custody, company officials informed Brakeman that CEO correspondence was being handled through the company's website and not through the US mail, whereby Brakeman was overheard muttering "Drat! Foiled again!" as he was led away in cuffs.
Company officials then told the Associated Press that "Mr. Brakeman is being taken off the short list."
Cheers!
