Pennsy Design Drawing

This was posted on E-Bay with several other renderings of the GG1. Appears to be a Loewy design idea for an electric locomotive from 1937.

I have a copy of the patent for the design, but this is the first time I've seen a rendering.

Wasn't Donald Dohner the true GG1 designer?

I believe Classic Trains had an article about Dohner and his role in the design. I'll see if I can find the patent for the GG1 design. and look for his name. I believe he was working at Westinghouse at the time, so Westinghouse might hold the design patent.

Back then, however, the chief designer got the credit. The first line in the title is R.G.F. LOEWY ET AL. You probably can't read it but the inventors are listed as Raymond G. F. Loewy & Warren R. Elsey. Chances are Warren might have done the actual design.

Believe this fits with their proposal to design a train like the Zephyrs.  Articulated with on set of trucks between cars.  Reason they dropped the idea was flexibility and the new GG1 at the time could pull up to 14 cars or more/

Haven't found the patent for the GG1 design yet. Thought I would include a link to the patent office in case anyone else wants to look. You'll at least find some interesting stuff to look at.
