Charles, the narrow extension added to the left looks substantially longer than 36". Was that intentional, or is there some strange optical illusion going on?

David, no your eyes are not deceiving you.  It is indeed about 52" and it was intentional for some scenery that I have in mind but can easily be rearranged later.

Regards,
Charles

No recent work has been done on the layout due to having been rear-ended on the 12th.  No one was injured but have been sore for several days and just trying to recuperate from the ordeal.  My vehicle was written off as a total loss and am now trying to find a replacement.  However, we did have a recent arrival to the fleet:

Bay Line GP38-2's #508 and 509 (these are in the paint scheme prior to the Genesee & Wyoming acquisition in 2005)

It has been a couple of weeks since the accident and things are slowly getting back to normal.  I'm feeling better and we have our replacement vehicle.  I'm hoping to get the second layer of foam down this weekend and get it painted.

During this down time I had time to rethink the industrial areas and decided not to wait on Atlas.  I have more than enough #7 turnouts on hand to complete the job and will replace the #5's on the plan with those.  The only track I'm missing are the 2 curved turnouts and the 2 crossings and they should be arriving this Thursday.  Track laying should begin in earnest shortly.

Regards,
Charles

I'm glad to hear all is well after the accident, Charles, and looking forward to seeing some track laid down. :)

Two layers of foam are down and secured (1 1/2").  Painted the foam today with a OOPS paint from HD.  Will start laying track this weekend.

I would be happy to swap some #5s for some #7s if you are interested. I realize you are ready to roll, but figured I would offer before they were glued down! I am at a standstill for track laying on my plan waiting for the Atlas resupply.

Send me an email if interested. If not, no worries.

Best wishes, Dave
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

The day has finally arrived.  Started laying some track so I can mark for the roadbed and then permanently affix the track.  I should be going full steam ahead this weekend with the track laying.

Charles
