Years ago, I did a bunch of color matching with paint samples compared to a freshly shopped SD40-2 Snoot sitting in the Riverdale yard, with permission. Scalecoat 2 U.P. Armour Yellow was the closest match and Floquil Armour Yellow wasn't even in the ballpark.
The next year, I notices a really faded U.P. engine (I don't remember what model) sitting in the Ogden Yard, so I hurried home got my paint samples again, and this time, the Floquil Armour Yellow exactly matched the really faded U.P. prototype Armour Yellow!!
My decision is to paint closest to prototype freshly shopped colors, which for U.P. are both Scalecoat 2 U.P. Armour Yellow and U.P. Gray...I don't believe Scalecoat calls it "Harbor Mist Gray" but it's really close to freshly shopped U.P. prototype Harbor Mist Gray.
Scalecoat is shiny, which I like, and covers very well, so you don't need a thick coat of it. Dullcote over it is just fine if you want to dull it down, but only after the enamel smell is gone.
