Here are some pictures from yesterdays session, the reflexion was achieved by using a piece of glass for the foundation and build the szenery on top of the glass.

I've never seen more realistic modeling, in any form, in any scale, anywhere. Congratulations, Jurg!

Please tell us more about how the modeling was done, and who did it.

Hello David

Thanks for the kind words. I do not have many pictures from the building process. My Friend Stefan Foerg from Germany build that little szene by my request because I've wanted to have the possiblity for water reflexion on my Pictures. I know he had some issues with Plexiglass as the foundation of the puddles and he changed to real glass because of the scratches. He build the szenery on top of the glass. The size is 45 cm wide by 50cm deep and the background is a gypsum "concrete wall". It's possible to change the Background with something complete different, maybe a Industriewall. Let's see in the near future.

Here are some pictures showing the process of his awesome work.

Simply phenomenal!   I know the thread is more about the water reflection (which is perfect, by the way) but everything else is dead-on...  That's some of the best freight car weathering and ground cover I've seen.

Keep it coming!

The weathering and detailing of the CP and StL&H Engines are done by Rodney Walker. All the Cars are weathered by Gary Christensen except of the Golden West Car who is done by Ed Nadolski and the SOO 5051 is done by Jered Slusser. The NS Genset is weathered by Tom Mann.

Wow, the randomness in the szenery is simply amazing.  I've run out of superlatives to even begin to describe the modelling.

To paraphrase an old TV commercial:  Is it real, or is it The Railwire?

I might be in trouble, doctors office is closed and I think I may have just gotten tetanus from those photos.  I'm not sure when I got my last booster shot.

When I saw the first couple photos, I thought it was the real thing and not a model.  Outstanding work.

Such a great idea. It could even work for little puddles you see after rain.
I was wondering, if there is a way to give the mirror a ripple effect without loosing the reflection.

Those images and the modelling are absolutely top notch in every way- probably the best I have seen.  I was thinking some optical grade clear resin that has a thin consistency and could be teased into ripples might be the ticket.  Or a thin coat of the same resin around the shores would help break up the absolute perfect refection.   But I do think a bit of irregularity in the water reflection would help with the water.

+1.

I was checking out the "HO and larger scales" out of sheer boredom, and came across your post.
I am glad I did, Jurgen,.  Thanks for sharing!

Paul

Thanks for the kind comments. I think if you use clear resin, you will maybe lost the mirror effect. You can find on railpictures.net a lot of example where the rain puddles have no waves:
