Wow that's sad news but not unexpected though.
I still remember my first trade with him back in the early mid 80's I think. I had one of those early Jamco brass Pacifics I traded to him for an A-B-B-A set of  Santa Fe PA's.

That is a sad news. I used to shop Ken's since the late 80s (when he still used to attend train shows). I bought my brass Key NYC 20th Century Ltd. Dreyfuss Hudson from Ken. But I'm also guilty of not visiting there more often in the last few years. It was a great little N-Scale-only shop!  It was is clean and brightly lit.  But Ken wasn't getting any younger and I suspect that his failing health was a major reason for closing the shop.

Still lots of Conrail engines. I think there were a few Amtrak cars and engines left. Unless you like sectional track, I took care of most of the C55 goodies. There is a fair amount of paint and figues, a small selection of vehicles, which I also did damage to and some scenery and structures.

Its probably worth a look, plus I'm right down the road.  PM me if you want to set up a meet.

He's been at it for a long time, so retirement shouldn't be a surprise. He was my first real train store.

I was thinking of Amtrak Dash 8s in Pepsi. And MP15s in Amtrak as well.

That's the one.  I don't think Ken ever had a fully-functional online store.  It is a brick-and-mortar hobby shop.

I picked up a GG1 and got the last Amtrak F40PH pre-ditch lights version today on the way back from Boston.  Lots of MTL cars, Atlas and Kato engines, and detail parts.  Also lots of current releases for all manufacturers, including the Atlas PS-1s and the MTL Greenville auto parts box.

It is if you assume it was a full retail brick and motar store.  Not judging just supposing.

It is sad to see Ken close up shop. He's a great guy and I enjoyed visiting him and talking trains. He runs a good, clean shop and I am not sure there will be any alternatives when he finally closes his doors. It has been bittersweet finding bargains among the merchandise knowing that it was possible because the store is going away.

Ken's store also provided my wife and youngest daughter a lot of joy over the years too because Ken's other hobby is raising Golden Retrievers. Both of them love the dogs and my wife liked to chat with Ken about the various dogs he has owned over the years. Until recently there was almost always a dog sleeping behind the counter or just milling around down by the locomotive case.

For me it's a sad to see him go.
