removing paint from walthers caboose?

I picked up two NYC style bay window cabooses in Conrail paint.

I am trying to remove the paint from the shells to paint them up in NYC colors.

Looking for the best way to remove the paint without ruining the shells.  Any thoughts?  The paint is pretty thick.

I've stripped two of them for. KCS kit ash with 91%isopropyl alcohol. Soak a half hour of so, scrub with a toothbrush. Air dry.
