Considering that some of the Atlas guys are members here, perhaps if you asked them nicely they could share a photo/drawing of the inspiration....

I'm actually going to drop a line to Cory with a couple notes about the car.

The way it sits now, the car can be mostly correct for all three main variations, but not 100% correct for any.  Maybe that's the best way to do it.

My only concern at this point is the application of the 10 stiffener roof.  Atlas thought it was important enough to do the tooling for.  I just hope they know it was only used the first couple years.

FWIW, we've only seen the 7' door version.  The 8' will have a completely different sil since the track is longer.  So maybe there are a few surprises that we haven't been told about yet.

I find it odd that Atlas hasn't posted any information about this car on their forum. I realize that many of them were probably away at the show, but you would have thought that given the development time involved that they could have a couple of paragraphs and a photo or two ready to share.

Best wishes, Dave

Oh, I would guess you'll be hearing plenty form Atlas on the A-board about it pretty soon. In the meantime, they are probably somewhat amused by the comments on the car on their own forum and figure why ruin the comedy before it's over.

I understand that it would be amusing to Atlas to see all the speculation. I don't understand their reasoning for not putting out information at the time the model is unveiled to the public. Maybe this is their version of viral marketing or they need to wait until February 1st to announce it. Just odd in my opinion, but nothing to prevent me from buying the model.

One more thing I'll add to all of this is that the end tack boards moved down at the same time as the ones on the doors.

This makes spotting a lot easier.  Just look out for cars that have been modified.

I find it odd that Atlas hasn't posted any information about this car on their forum.

This is fairly typical of Atlas. They will post all in good time.
