New to DCC

Hello All,
I'm new to DCC but not new to Model Railroading, I'm starting a new layout and converting to DCC. After seeing the benifits of DCC. Being new to DCC, I've got a question

I got a Digitrax Super Cheif Extra and am going through my roster and converting to DCC. I've currently run into a situation that I would check to see if there would be any problems. I've got 12 Kato UP E9's that I'm converting to DCC. Road #'s for them are as matched AB sets, such as the A unit is #944 and the B unit is #944B. What I would like to do is all A Units using 4 digit addressing (A Unit -> 944) and B units using 2 digit addressing (B Unit -> 44) Any forseeable problems with this? If so, what is the best way to deal with this situation?

I'm sure as I get more into the conversion I'll have more questions.

Thanks

Richard

The easiest thing to do is simply to set both A and B units to the same address.  You just have to make sure they're both pointed in the same direction...  This would also allow you to MU an ABBA set by simply consisting two addresses.

You won't have any problem mixing two digit and four digit addresses in the same consists. I do it all the time but not for the same reason as yours..

Lee's method is simpler, though.

Lee's
method is not only simpler but it uses less address slots in the command station.  Personally I like things that are straightforward and simple.  Intensel complicated stuff is great, when I'm getting a paycheck for it.  Throttle slots might not matter if you are using advanced consisting to group three ABBA sets, but the day you decide to break them up to 12 individual units its a lot to deal with...
