I used 8/0 uni-thread that is used for tying trout flies for the wires and the posts are 3/64x3/64 kappler wood, stained with Minwax "Dark Walnut".

After looking at proto photos of the track I'm modeling, I realized the tan/dirt colored ballast I used on the spur was not realistic. There seemed to be more of a grimy, cinders like ballast mixed with dirt and grey rock ballast. So here is the redone spur...







Caleb, your texture is outstanding!  I can't seem to get it right  LOL
