 after looking at the red strip and seeing it look wavy on the computer
but are really stright in the garage i give up. enjoy the pics

I wonder if this will be the next standard in UP colors . Simplicity and reduced cost in schemes has been the trend in more modern times . That yellow lower stripe mucked up the looks of the second original color scheme . This scheme is in compliance with the rules , but IMO less visible , and thus less safe . This is the result of trying to put things in restricted order . Looks like a stinkin' pigeon . Nice work on that model though .

my limited understanding is that she was a old SP unit that was the test
bed for a new primer.  This was in 2006 or 2007, 
 6344 now wears U.P. yellow  :'(

the unit only wore this scheme for a few days, about the time it took to ship it from Washington to Kansas City where the yellow was painted...

Thanks , nice to know my fears of a new and worse scheme are without merit .

Um . . . speaking on behalf of both the white and grey schemes of the KCS - what's wrong with a simple one color approach?

Nothing , if that's where you started from , or if that's what you want . UP has a long in the tooth colorful scheme that has become very recognizable . To change that iconic scheme to a solid gray with 2 reflective stripes made of tape would IMO be a shame .

 I loved the fact that KCS is the most unchanged class 1 railroad over the decades . Their colorful scheme was beautiful , and they should have kept it as it was also an iconic scheme . I was unaware that the had dropped it entirely , as I remember seeing some newer units in the preferred by me scheme .
