It's on the move!  But to where????

Quick!  Call a professional trucker and set up a prototype scene!

But it's REAL.  After nearly a year of talking, it rolled off the trailer....

And arrived .... HERE!

But where is here?   HERE!!!!

http://www.velocity.net/~lsrhs/

I had the fun of 'helping' the donation deal between the steel company and the museum, but after being parked dangerously close to the melt shop for months , it arrived at North East, PA yesterday, December 30, 2008.

LSRHS is soliciting donations for restoration of her.  It really only needs a coat of paint and batteries from the looks of things, as it was recently operational. Goals are to have it operational around the museum trackage this summer.  $1000 should do it, care to kick in?

Thanks to the president of the society, Ray Grabowski, for the transit and delivery photos.

Donations to Lake Shore Railway Historical Society
P.O. Box 571
Wall & Robison Streets
North East, PA 16428-0571  and just put "25-tonner' on them.

Only about 70 miles.  The next thing to get moved out is possibly the last remaining ex-PRR F36 heavy-duty flatcar to the same place.  So even if you don't love bitty GE's, Slobbering Pennsy Fans have something to celebrate!

Now, to find out who swiped the builder's plate. The LSRHS put out an inquiry on the RYPN forum - it was on there just prior to the move.

It was also on it when I inspected the locomotive, and was photographed including the serial number.  It 'looked' like the locomotive was doomed to scrap, and I suspect one of the locals 'preserved' it just assuming the loco was a goner.  I'm hoping that the builders plate magically reappears now that the locomotive is saved.

Gregg, thanks for mentioning that rypn post.  Ray has elected to not post a closeup picture of the plate yet, so I won't either.

If not returned...well, its officially now stolen property.
